The Lake Bracciano is a natural park 30 km north of Rome, in the unspoiled heart of Etruria. Its waters have been used since Roman times to supply the capital's aqueducts, and today the lake is highly protected for its water resources; in fact, no motorboats are allowed on it. It is a paradise for sailing, canoeing, for walks and hikes such as the visit to the fascinating Monterano. The town of Bracciano boasts a charming Renaissance castle, now a museum and a true star among the attractions. The small towns of Anguillara and Trevignano are two jewels set on the shores of the lake, while the sea at Santa Severa is only a 25-minute drive away.
Rome can be reached in 40 minutes with a convenient train that departs from Bracciano every half hour.
